Teddy Garland, who is a friend of Raffles', finds that he is in debt to the moneylender, Brigstock. After paying a visit to Brigstock Raffles and Bunny manage to pay Garland's debt back. 

When Brigstock asks Raffles to steal a letter which is evidence in a court case pending against him, Raffles agrees, but has an agenda about which Brigstock knows nothing. 

Ultimately Raffles puts Brigstock into a position where he must choose between his love for his money and life itself.

What starts out as a murder trial will soon involve the Government of the day, the High Court, the Privy Council and a young newspaper owner named Rupert Murdoch. The case will lead to a Royal Commission and seven stays of execution for the young half caste Max Stuart, who claims he is innocent and that his confession was beaten out of him by corrupt Police Officers working on the case. Against huge odds O'Sullivan battles to keep Stuart from the gallows. Help comes from an unexpected quarter when newspaper owner Rupert Murdoch takes up the cause. Can they succeed?

"If you're seen to be playing cameos, you get offered cameos. If you are seen playing small parts, you get offered small parts; if you're playing leading men, you get offered leading roles.
 He responds in his usual laconic way when asked what attracted him to the part of Sir Henry Somerset in to The Ends of the Earth.
 "Apart from the money, do you mean?" he asks with a knowing smile. "Sir Henry is rather comic: a bit of a buffoon. He's described as being 'a wide man, ample girth' and I thought it would be interesting to play a fat man. The scripts are excellent and even though it's only a cameo, it's hopefully a telling one. I thought it was something I'd like to be part of."
