by Robert Connolly with  Sam Worthington and Timothy Spall

Based on the award-winning novel by Tim Winton, “The Riders” will shoot on location on the Dalmatian Coast and in Paris.
Michael Hirst, Fancesca Brill and Brooks-Smith adapted the screenplay, which centers  on “Australian expatriate Scully(Worthington)who prepares to start a new family with his wife Jennifer and young daughter Bille in Ireland. His life is blown apart when he goes to the airport to meet his family, but finds only Billie and no message from his missing wife. With Billie in tow, he travels to Korcula and Paris in search of Jennifer : beginning a journey of self discovery that will alter the course of his life in ways he could never have envisaged.”
The Australian/UK co-production, to be delivered January 2014, will be distributed internationally by Stealth Media Group.

Charles an advert in 2000 for Halifax

Posted on 02:02 by khali

The Halifax, Britain’s biggest mortgage lender, this week kicks off a two-year pounds 130m marketing drive comprising new advertising, product development and staff training. The bank is raising its ad-spend from pounds 11m to pounds 15m a year and unveiling a new TV campaign which aims to show the positive role the Halifax plays in the community by helping people to help others. The ads show how the Halifax, by helping one person, has a positive effect throughout a whole community as people pass on benefits through their everyday lives. They feature actor Charles Dance and the wig-maker from BBC1 documentary Paddington Green.

Charles at the critics' circle theatre awards 2007

Posted on 11:00 by khali

Amongst the acceptance speeches, Charles Dance caused a stir by effectively biting the hands that fed him. After collecting his Best Actor Award for Shadowlands, Dance pulled out a sheet of paper and disdainfully re-read a clutch of “sobering”, unflattering reviews from earlier in his career. Written by Robert Gore-Langton (formerly of the Daily Express), our own Michael Coveney (then of the Daily Mail) and Charles Spencer (stood next to Dance on the stage as the actor spoke), the historic notices dismissed Dance as “bland”, “dull”, “weak” and “undeserving” of his fame. The actor said that he had, in subsequent years, stopped reading reviews – though he understood that he and Shadowlands received very good ones.
